2011 Cricket Worldcup!

The 2011 World Cup is not very far away, and the organisers are making sure that the event is well-promoted. Take a look at image of a giant cricket ball that is being taken around Sri Lanka to drum up support for the sport's biggest tournament.

The tenth edition of the Cricket World Cup will be hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in 2011. The tournament kicks off on February 19.


A total of 13 venues have been chosen to host the 49 matches in the tournament. These include:

India: 
Eden Gardens, Kolkata
M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore
Feroz Shah Kotla, New Delhi
M.A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
P.C.A Stadium, Mohali
Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad
V.C.A Ground, Nagpur
Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai


Sri Lanka: 
R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo 
Mahinda Rajapaksa Cricket Stadium,Hambantota
Pallekele Crickety Stadium, Kandy


Bangladesh: 
Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Mirpur
Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong



This is the third time the tournament is being held in the Indian sub-continent.
Previous editions were staged in 1996 and 1987.
Australia are the defending champions after they won the 2007 edition beating Sri Lanka in the West Indies.
